Heart and Mind meets Body and Soul

A new festival celebrating good health and the great Lancashire countryside is coming to Preston.

Sport, food, music and lots of health and lifestyle activities feature in The Heart & Mind, Body & Soul Festival, to be staged in September.

Outdoor sports and activities from cycling to caravanning – plus a host of specialist stalls featuring everything from alternative therapies and natural cosmetics to arts and crafts – will be a major feature of the family-friendly festival. Sporting activities, dance, and
expert talks on health and wellbeing will be taking place all day.

Also, there will be yoga demonstrations, Walking Football and Walking Netball, sports aimed at older people looking to stay active.

Children can enjoy forest activities, a heart-building “Skipathon” and Zumba classes.

The festival is a new initiative from cardiac care charity Heartbeat, which is based in Preston and this year celebrates 40 years of helping people across Lancashire to rebuild their lives after major heart events such as heart attacks and by-pass operations. The
charity also provides education and training to children, young people and adults across the county in healthy lifestyles and certified first aid courses

On Saturday September 15th, Heartbeat hosts the festival to celebrate healthy hearts, bodies and minds. The event is taking place in the extensive 12-acre grounds of Ashbridge School in Lindle Lane, Hutton, near Preston. The school is a corporate supporter of
Heartbeat.

Health and wellbeing is high on everyone’s agenda these days and the Heart & Mind, Body & Soul Festival will be showcasing up to 60 specialist stalls and a special section on the “Great Outdoors”.

If you’re not sure that you can stand the pace, then you can even have your blood pressure and cholesterol tested by the Heartbeat team!

Wander through a range of craft stalls featuring “Works of Heart”, or listen to the programme of live music. You can also sample a range of healthy street food and get some new cookery ideas from the “Soul Food Kitchen”.

Finally if you’re up for a challenge, the event will also include Heartbeat’s annual 2k run, on the athletics track at the front of the school. Dress as a superhero!

Everyone is welcome at this great event, which takes place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 15th September at Ashbridge. Tickets will be on sale from the end of June through Skiddle.com with deals for families and a special “Early Bird” reduction for bookings made before the end of July.

• WHAT: The Heart & Mind, Body & Soul Festival
• WHERE: Ashbridge School in Lindle Lane, Hutton, near Preston.
• WHEN: Saturday September 15, 2018, 10am to 4pm
• WHY: To promote healthy lifestyles and the great outdoors, in association with Heartbeat.

Raffle Winners

By joining in our Summer Raffle YOU have helped local people affected by heart disease.

In the UK, someone has a heart attack every 3 minutes, that’s nearly 500 people every single day.

Heartbeat needs to raise nearly £1 million every year to provide cardiac services.

The charity does not receive any government or NHS funding to do this.

ALL support is voluntary and it is only because of people like you that we are able to help nearly 900 people every single week.

EVERY ticket sold really has made a difference helping local people affected by heart disease to rebuild their lives.

Without your support this would not be possible, thank you.

Thank you for your amazing support!

Heartbeat are blessed to have a fantastic supporter called Kelly Baines, who is a nurse on the Coronary Care Unit at RPH.

Last year with her friends they raised an amazing £850 by undertaking the Yorkshire 2 peaks walk.

This year Kelly kindly organised an Afternoon Tea and Charity Evening to raise funds for Heartbeat on Saturday 12th May at the Preston Marriott Hotel at Broughton.

Huge thank you to Kelly for raising £1,058 at her ‘Can’t Drop the Beat’ charity event.
