Former PNE player George Ross sadly passed away in May last year on the last day of the football season. His son, Andrew Ross, and four friends (Pete Smith, Jonathan Cuff, Adam Horabin, Paul Young and driver David Latham) are determined to take on the National Three Peaks challenge in memory of George on 16th June, and raise money for the heart charity Heartbeat.
Andrew said, “We are doing the National Three Peaks challenge in 24 hours or less, Ben Nevis (Scotland), Scafell (England) and Snowdon (Wales). I am doing it in memory of my dad and to try to raise a bit of cash for Heartbeat.” George attended Heartbeat for cardiac rehabilitation in Preston, for many years and was a great supporter of the charity.
Michelle Hunt, Heartbeat’s Fundraising Manager said “On behalf of all of us at Heartbeat I would like thank Andrew for choosing to support us and allowing us to benefit from his efforts in this challenge in memory of George who was well known and loved by everyone at Heartbeat. The money that Andrew and his friends raise will go towards the on-going work provided to local people that require heart rehabilitation by providing an exercise-based Cardiac Rehabilitation programme, fully supervised by trained instructors, to those recovering from heart attack, surgery or stroke and supports those at risk of developing these conditions. We wish Andrew and his team the best of luck in this very difficult challenge.”

On 6th May Heartbeat Hero Lauren Hogg took part at Rat Race 2017 Burghley Park, Stamford to raise money for Heartbeat, in memory of her Grandpa, Grant Williams.
Lauren said, “I took part in Rat Race 2017 to raise money for Heartbeat because they supported my Grandpa for many years. I signed up to take part in another challenge which was sure to get my heart pumping! Last year I completed Total Warrior, which was 30 punishing obstacles over a 12k distance. There was a lot of mud along the way too!
This year going one BIG step further, there are a whopping 200 obstacles over a 20 mile distance to overcome.
Like last year, I was determined to push myself further following the massive support and generous donations from friends, family and even strangers. Heartbeat is solely funded by it’s own fundraising and donations from supporters and do not at present receive any external funding from the NHS or Government, so if I can do something to help I will be happy.
Heartbeat is the North West’s leading cardiac rehabilitation charity, providing services for over 700 people each week and has supported heart patients, my Grandpa included, and those at risk for over 35 years.
So far Lauren’s Rat Race Challenge has raised an amazing… £228.74!

We started collecting for Heartbeat with a donation box in our information cabin on the caravan site, after Tim attended the rehab centre at Heartbeat.”

Our head office and cardiac rehabilitation centre is located on the site of Preston North End football club, in addition to this we have 8 other classes and programmes across Lancashire.
