PNE: Rise of the Invincibles book launch raises over £1400 for Heartbeat

Over 80 people turned out at The Villa, North End for the official launch of Preston North End – Rise of the Invincibles graphic novel on Thursday 1st December 2016.

The night was kicked off by author Michael Barrett talking about his book, including an email reading from Roy of the Rovers artist David Sque, who illustrated the book.

Michael commented, “It was a fantastic turnout for the event. It was really good to see so many of the people that have bought and supported the book from its beginning. Simon Grayson’s Q & A session was the icing on the cake to a great night!”.

Following this was a Q&A with PNE manager, Simon Grayson, led by football pundit Simon Crabtree, which saw the PNE manager taking questions from the audience about everything from his all-time XI players he’s managed to which player in the world he’d most like to sign.

The book which has now become a best seller, is now on sale and can be purchased online at It can also be purchased on Amazon or from the PNE club shop, Waterstone’s Preston, Halewood’s of Friargate, and the Harris Museum shop. The special art prints can be bought on the Invincible Books website.

Ticket revenue, money raised from a raffle and a donation from each book sold on the night being donated to Heartbeat NWCC, the event raised over £1400. Prizes for the raffle included signed PNE shirts & Invincibles prints, a bracelet from George Banks Jewellers, a Four Ball voucher for Preston Golf Club, a voucher from The Health Shack, and many more.

Heartbeat Fundraising Officer Mark said “We’d like to thank Michael for choosing us to be the beneficiary of the event. The book is a fantastic idea so to be part of the launch is great for us. The money raised from the event will help Heartbeat to run it’s vital services supporting local people with heart disease”
