Heartbeat is a local, Northwest charity dedicated to helping people who have suffered a Heart Illness, Heart Attack, Cardiac Surgery or Angina. All our resources and all the funds we raise, go directly to the people of the North West and are used primarily in Cardiac Rehabilitation. We also support Education and Research to help reduce the alarmingly high incidence of heart disease in the North West.

We have been established for almost 27 years and have four main aims:

1. The rehabilitation of those who have suffered from Coronary Heart Disease.

2. Prevention of Heart Disease through our education programme to schools and adults.

3. Support of research into Cardiac rehabilitation.

4. Lifestyle guidance for those whose way of life makes them vulnerable to Coronary Heart Disease.

Our education programme visits schools, workplaces, social groups, public events and shows, driving home the message that prevention is better than cure and increasing public awareness of the dangers of Heart Disease.

Heartbeat helps sufferers from Heart Attacks and patients recovering from Bypass, Open Heart, Transplant surgery or Angina to retum to a full and active life. Many patients report feeling better after their illness than they did before, thanks to The Heartbeat Rehabilitation Programme. There is no other organisation doing the same work as Heartbeat. Heartbeat is not affiliated to or part of the any other heart charity or the National Health Service. We receive no funds from Government or Local Government. We rely on voluntary donations through the support of local people and subscriptions to our lottery and we are always looking for new fundraising opportunities. If you can help please contact our fundraising co-ordinator.
