Heart Awareness Weekend

On the last weekend in September Heartbeat and the majority of stores on the Capitol Centre, Walton le Dale, held an event to raise awareness of heart disease.

Wonderful Heartbeat volunteers helped to bag pack at Waitrose as well as walk the concourse and handing out leaflets; detailing ways people can help themselves and loved ones when it comes to cardiovascular disease.

The leaflets also contained information about Heartbeat and how we can help our local community with our rehabilitation classes.

On Sunday Heartbeat held blood pressure testing at the Waitrose Cafe and Nuffield Gym; helping and re-assuring dozens of people.

The weekend’s event was held to raise awareness, however, the generous customers of Waitrose and of the many shops involved also raised over £890 which is absolutely amazing! And a Heartbeat record for a bag pack!

Thank you to all these amazing stores, their staff teams and generous customers for kindly helping raise awareness about cardiovascular disease and supporting Heartbeat!

Thank you so much to the Capitol Centre Management.

Special thanks also to Rascals Play Centre for kindly donating tickets to their fantastic play centre; we currently have these tickets as part of our Halloween Raffle (see our reception for more details)

Also, thanks to Vue Cinema for kindly donating cinema tickets that we will use in our future Christmas Raffle!

The Heartbeat Team are thrilled with how the weekend event went, and will hopefully be carrying out another event next September for Heart Awareness Weekend.
